These are our most frequently asked questions Training & requirements

What is the difference between a make-up artist and a make-up artist?

The qualified make-up artist focuses on classic beauty techniques, skin analysis, color consultation and professional day, evening and bridal make-up for natural to elegant looks. The make-up artist also includes special effects, fantasy make-up, character portrayals, stage looks and creative transformations. The combined training combines both areas for maximum versatility - you will master both subtle beauty looks and dramatic SFX effects.

What do I learn in the combined make-up artist & make-up artist training course?

You will learn all the classic make-up techniques such as skin analysis, color consultation, day, evening and bridal make-up, smokey eyes, photo and film make-up as well as correction techniques. You will also master creative make-up artist techniques such as stage and drag make-up, SFX with wounds, scars and prostheses, period looks from baroque to 1920s, old-age make-up with ageing techniques as well as fantasy and character design with body painting and airbrushing.

What requirements do I need for the combined training course?

You need to be at least 18 years old and have creativity and an interest in beauty and artistic make-up. For younger participants, a written declaration of consent from parents or legal guardians is required. No previous school knowledge, A-levels or make-up experience required. The course is suitable for creative beginners and advanced students. More important than previous knowledge are a passion for make-up, a willingness to experiment and a willingness to learn both classic and creative techniques.

Is the combined training course also suitable for career changers?

Yes, absolutely! Many successful make-up artists come from other professions and have turned their passion for beauty and creative make-up into a career. The flexible training with online modules and face-to-face courses makes it possible to learn on the job. Life experience and different perspectives often enrich the creative work. The training systematically teaches all techniques from the ground up - perfect for a career change.
