Learn to lead the group

Step touch, kick, step touch, kick... At first glance, leading aerobics classes may seem like child's play to some. From the outside, you don't realize how many details make up an aerobics class. From the numerous basic steps, to the right choice of music, to cueing - an aerobics instructor has to master it all.

As an instructor, it is your job not only to demonstrate exercises to customers, but also to correct their execution. You are the motivator who gets the participants in your group class to take part in the exercises and have fun doing them.

With aerobics, you help your customers to improve their stamina, strength, coordination and flexibility as well as reduce stress. So what are you waiting for? Start your training now.

What can you expect from our training?

The content of the aerobics trainer training includes topics such as the 30 basic aerobics steps, which you will use to plan a choreography. You will also learn the correct postures, techniques and dynamics to be able to instruct your customers correctly.

The ideal aerobics class includes a warm-up and a cool-down phase in addition to the actual workout. We will show you how to plan and implement these.

Cueing is used to guide your group and we will show you how to give these signals using hand signals or voice. You can also motivate your group through the correct use of music and learn how to teach successfully using sports psychology motivation.

Finally, you will be able to prove that you can lead your participants in the best possible way in a teaching performance with your group.

Training theory

The first part of training theory teaches the basics of training, such as training principles, principles of training design, training methods and the factors of athletic performance.
As performance, performance diagnostics, training and competition are closely interrelated, they are also taught accordingly in the course.

In the second part of training theory, training is defined and evaluated as a complex action process and in connection with planning, execution and evaluation.
An important part of training theory is still the design of training plans, which is taught in practice with examples of the possibilities of designing a training plan.

In order to delve even deeper into training science, we have worked with top international speakers such as Prof. em. Dr. phil. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Weineck, we have also developed a video workshop on the subject of altitude training.

Posture, technique, dynamics
Correct posture and technique are the cornerstones of aerobics.

The basic posture describes the position of the feet, alignment of the knees and hips and the position of the spine, neck and head. As every change in posture entails further changes in other joints, it is important for aerobics instructors to be familiar with the basic principles of posture and various movement patterns. For this reason, essential positions and the most important coaching points of posture are discussed.

The correct technique describes the correct and precise execution of individual movements and protects us from injuries, overloading and imbalances. Some important basic principles of methodology enable optimal learning of movements. This methodical structure will be discussed in the course of the lecture, as well as common mistakes and corrective measures.

Music theory and the use of music
Aerobics without the right music is just a gym class. So: the be-all and end-all in aerobics / group fitness is the right music. Whether chart hits, Latin music or pan flute sounds - music is the trump card. In this seminar, you will learn everything about the correct use of music, counting in, the Big One and the 32-count music arc. These lessons are the most exciting, you will be thrilled.

Sports psychology Motivation (successful teaching)
When motivating a customer, it is particularly important to motivate them and help them achieve their goals.
However, goals can be divided into different types and must meet certain requirements in order to be achieved.

In fact, there can be dangers associated with setting "wrong" goals. These will be explained to the course participants in this unit, along with how to set goals for customers.

Another aspect of motivation is learning. Here too, there are different types of learning and ways to achieve maximum learning success.
The course participants will be provided with important aspects of learning.
Topics such as fear, stress, and self-confidence will also be discussed, as these also affect the motivation of a customer. Various formulas and types of stress will be presented, as well as coping methods and types of fear, including the fear spiral.

After this unit, the course participants will be able to professionally respond to the needs, desires, and goals of customers and know how to skillfully motivate them to achieve these.

An effective Group Fitness session must be well thought out and structured. Therefore, there are some important basic principles to consider when planning. In the course of the subject our participants learn the structure in coarse and fine structure. The individual phases warm-up, cardo phase, workout phase, cool down as well as stretching and relaxation are examined in more detail. Also, the right choice of music, different ways of structuring the individual phases as well as the goals and content of those will be addressed. Lesson plans - Teaching performances
This is your moment! You are ready, focused, and motivated, and you introduce yourself to "our" group. You lead your first aerobics class and put into practice everything you have learned so far. Starting with warm-up, followed by a small choreography and a strength training phase (with small equipment) in the main part, and ending with cool down and stretching, the group is all yours. Before that, you choose the theme of the session yourself and find the appropriate music and exercises. After the previous sessions, this is no longer an obstacle. The applause from the group and the satisfaction after your first self-led session are guaranteed.
As the group gets to know each other during the training, there is no need to be nervous. Leading the friendly group for the first time takes some pressure off you for the future. After that, our expert will provide constructive feedback to prepare you for the future as an aerobics instructor.

Technique training
In this practical block, the content of the subject "Posture, technique and dynamics" already discussed in theory is dealt with in detail. The basics are put into practice and practiced. Frequently occurring weaknesses and mistakes will be addressed and the correction of these will be practiced. We also practise how techniques can be optimally taught as a trainer. The ultimate goal is to be able to instruct technically correct, injury-free training for clients. This includes acoustic coaching points as well as tactile assistance.

Because all of this happens during aerobic training with and during musical accompaniment. The trick is to combine posture and technique training with the use of music.

Funding & educational leave - how it works

Can I get funding for my training?

There are a variety of funding options for training at the Flexyfit Sports Academy. State-specific and EU funding as well as tax-related options form the basis for this.

However, we would like to point out that the respective funding body is solely responsible for deciding on the allocation or amount of funding.

We will be happy to help you find a suitable funding body and compile all the course information you need for a funding application. You must submit the application itself to the funding bodies.

All relevant funding bodies at a glance

How does the funding work?

Depending on the funding institution, the training costs are either paid directly after the funding application has been confirmed (e.g. AMS) or reimbursed in full or in part after successful completion of the training (e.g. waff). Please contact the funding institutions yourself to find out how the funding works.

Can I take educational leave for the course?

Yes, the majority of our courses are suitable for educational leave.

If you want to continue your education without terminating your employment, you can arrange educational leave with your employer. This means that you will be released from work for the duration of the training.

Plan your educational leave with us now! We will be happy to clarify your individual training requirements with you in a personal, non-binding consultation.

How does educational leave work?

You can take your educational leave for a maximum of 1 year within 4 years - there are 3 options:

  • Educational leave spread over 12 months
  • Educational leave split up, but each part must last at least 2 months. The parts must be taken within 4 years.
  • Educational leave with part-time educational leave spread over 2 years

It is important that your employer agrees to you taking educational leave. You must provide evidence of the training plans issued by us to the extent of 20 hours per week in the case of full-time educational leave, or at least 10 hours in the case of part-time educational leave.

You must regularly provide evidence of the progress of your training. For example, in the form of examinations or confirmation of attendance, which you will receive from us.

What do aerobics instructors do?

Aerobics trainers / group fitness instructors lead group classes, such as "fat burning", "abs, legs, bottom" and "bodywork", professionally, safely and responsibly.

They make sure that the customers' posture and technique are correct and use their hands, arms or mood to give cues, i.e. instructions on the steps of the exercises.

Group fitness instructors are also responsible for planning classes, where they use suitable music to create a choreography for the class.

How can Flexyfit help me find a job?

We regularly list job advertisements from fitness studios on our Sportkarriere platform. There you can apply directly for jobs as a fitness trainer, branch manager, instructor or studio employee.

Career afterwards - how to continue after training

Great training and super nice people. You can tell how much emphasis is placed on conveying the necessary knowledge to the course participants in an understandable way. I was even kindly allowed to take a course completely free of charge after there were somewhat problematic and disruptive participants in my group. I will 100% take more courses with you in the future because learning is extremely fun, especially thanks to the friendly staff!

The best thing that could have happened to me is this academy. Access to participants is excellent. All employees are very competent, very professional and very friendly. A person can learn so much that it is indescribably good. I would recommend it to everyone. When I arrived in Austria I was looking for something like this and luckily I found this academy and signed up for the course without hesitation. Everything we get in return is worth 100 times more than what we pay. Indescribable experience, indescribable people, once again and 1000 times I say: Thank you for everything, thank you for this indescribable experience. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

I was able to learn a lot of new things as part of my training at the Flexyfit Academy and was able to take on a new, demanding challenge with my chosen course. The structure of the training courses is very understandable and clear, so that you can master the distance learning course on your own without any problems. If there were any questions, ambiguities or isolated problems, the Academy team was always quick to help and we could always find a common solution. Here and there I would have liked a little more practical relevance. Nevertheless, I always felt very comfortable, had great speakers and with my degree as a qualified medical sports coach, many new doors are now open to me :)
