Introduction to Lomi Lomi Nui
This course provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the basics and cultural background of Lomi Lomi Nui massage. First, the history of the origins of this form of massage is examined, explaining the influences of Polynesian and Hawaiian culture and its development to its current form. The basic principles and values such as aloha (love) and pono (justice) are then discussed and their significance in massage practice explained.
Another important section deals with the history of Hawaii. Here an overview of the historical development is given and the impact of important events on the culture is examined. Special attention is given to the influence of Hawaiian culture and values on the development and practice of Lomi Lomi Nui. Participants will learn how cultural concepts such as mana (life force) and aloha are integrated into the massage and why they are essential to understanding and practicing this form of massage.
