Color theory

Colors are omnipresent: in our reflection in the mirror, in nature, in clothing and make-up. But only when we understand their effect on people and know how they relate to each other can we use them consciously. This is exactly where color theory comes in.

To begin with, you will get to know the color wheel. It shows how colors are related to each other and which combinations have a harmonious or contrasting effect. Whether warm or cool, soft or strong - every color carries a certain mood . You will learn how these moods are used in make-up to create radiance, freshness or depth.

In the next step, you will focus on color analysis. You will observe the skin undertone, eye color and hair structure in order to recognize which color nuances make a face appear lively. It's about noticing differences that seem inconspicuous at first glance, but play a major role in the overall picture.

In the practical part of the type consultation, you will get to know the classic color types, such as the spring, summer, autumn and winter types. Step by step, you will learn how to clearly classify people and choose suitable make-up colors. The aim is to choose colors not just because they look "beautiful", but because they emphasize the natural personality. at the end of this unit, you will not only have theoretical knowledge, but also a trained eye. You will develop a feel for which shades harmonize in make-up and how you can use color in a targeted way to create a look that is lively, harmonious and expressive.

  • BASICS OF COLOR THEORY

    • Primary, secondary and tertiary colors
    • Color temperatures: warm, cool, neutral
    • Brightness, saturation & tonal value
    • Color perception and tone differentiation

    COLOR WHEEL & HARMONIES

    • History of color theory - different models and approaches
    • Structure of the classic color wheel
    • Complementary colors and their effect
    • Use of color harmonies in makeup
    • Balance between skin undertone, outfit and occasion

    COLOR ANALYSIS & TYPE THEORY

    • Determination of skin undertone & pigmentation
    • Classification into seasonal and mixed types
    • Type-appropriate color selection for eyes, lips and complexion
    • Limits of type consultation - individual adjustments
Facial analysis

How does a face change when light and shadow are used in a targeted way? This is exactly where facial analysis comes in: it is about consciously perceiving proportions and understanding the influence of make-up on the shape of the face. You will learn to recognize and distinguish between different face shapes such as oval, round, angular, heart-shaped or long. This is the basis for working specifically with light and shadow later on.

The aim of any make-up design is to create harmonious and balanced proportions. In make-up artistry, the oval face is considered ideal, as its lines appear soft and even. With the help of contouring and highlighting techniques , you can visually approximate other face shapes to this ideal.

An important part of the unit is taking a close look at individual parts of the face. You analyze the distance between the eyes, the shape and height of the eyebrows, the proportions of the forehead, cheeks and chin as well as the lines of the bridge of the nose. The shape of the lips and jawline also play a role. All these details determine how a face looks: soft, striking, open or rather compact.

Train your eye for subtle differences and develop a confident, professional sense of proportion. The result is make-up that emphasizes your personality and shapes your overall appearance.

    • Overview of facial symmetries
    • Division of the 3 facial zones

    • Goal: Creating a balanced, oval-looking overall shape
Skin theory

When we talk about skin , most people first think of skincare products, make-up or their own reflection in the mirror in the morning. But the skin is much more than just our outer covering. It is the largest organ in our body, our protective shield, a sensory organ and an expression of our health.

In skin science, you will learn about the anatomical structure of the skin and its individual layers. You will learn how it works, what tasks it performs and why it sometimes reacts sensitively to external influences. You will learn how to recognize different skin types and understand which skincare and make-up products are suitable for which skin type. Another important part of the course is how to deal with skin irritations and allergies. You will learn how to recognize allergic reactions, how to deal with them responsibly and how to select products that support the skin instead of burdening it.

This practical unit helps you not only to see the skin, but to really understand it. This will enable you to apply type-appropriate make-up that highlights rather than conceals - while keeping the health and well-being of your customers in mind.

You will learn which shape and texture of a brush creates which effect and which brush is best for applying creamy, powdery or liquid textures. Because every product can only be applied beautifully if the right tool is used.

You will also take a closer look at different make-up textures . Powder, cream, gel, liquid and stick products. You will learn which textures combine well with each other, how they behave on the skin and how to apply them so that they look natural and last a long time. This also includes how to remove products correctly in order to use them hygienically and sparingly.

Another focus is the correct handling of the material. Stage make-up/drag make-up

Maximum impact, strong shapes and creative expression - all this is part of stage & drag makeup. You consciously leave the boundaries of classic beauty makeup and learn to shape the face so that it looks clear and powerful even from a distance and in strong lighting.

They work with exaggeration: contours are enhanced, the facial anatomy is visually altered and proportions are rethought. Techniques include block brows, color blocking, strong contouring, artificial shadowing, painting over the shape of the lips, large eyelashes, lash stacking, glitter and eye-catching textures.

Epoch looks

How do you recognize at first glance which era a look comes from? This is exactly where the period looks course comes in. Course participants look at the typical and stylistic features of different decades: the clear brows and dark lips of the 1920s, the glamorous lines and red lips of the 1950s, the natural tones and earthy colors of the 1970s, the strong blush and metallic shimmer of the 1980s through to Y2K shine, gloss and cool pastel shades. You will learn which details clearly place a look in a particular era, from eyebrow shape and eyeshadow application to lip contouring.

An important part is working with photo and film references. You train to quickly recognize features, convert them into make-up steps and quickly adapt or modernize a look. This involves observation, deduction and creative translation.

In practice, you will create one or two complete looks. You will practise implementing historical elements clearly and authentically without the look appearing too heavy or "costumed". This subject helps you to gain a practical understanding of the history of style and to implement period characters in such a way that they are instantly recognizable and look professionally made up.

  • INTRODUCTION TO HISTORICAL BEAUTY IDEALS

    • Overview of characteristic make-up elements from different decades
    • Influence of fashion, culture and media on typical looks

    CLASSIC DECADES IN DETAIL

    • 1920s: Smokey eyes, thin brows, dark lips

    • Creation of 1-2 complete period looks
    • Fine-tuning, recognizability & decade assignment
Fantasy Looks

How do you create a figure that doesn't come from our world? In Fantasy Look, you create make-up as a complete work of art. You will learn the basics of body and face painting , find out which colors are suitable for the skin, which brushes and sponges can be used to achieve which effects and how surfaces, gradients and structures can be created cleanly. This also includes the skillful integration of accessories such as rhinestones, feathers, wigs, headpieces or sculpted elements to give the look a three-dimensional effect.

Another focus is character design. You develop your own character - from the idea to the choice of colors to the symbolic meaning of individual elements. This involves mood, story, design language and recognition value. You plan how colors, patterns and materials interact so that the look is coherent and not random.

In practice, you will then create a complete fantasy character . Step by step, you will create a look that is not just made up, but staged. You don't just apply make-up, you create it: with imagination, technical skill and a clear artistic concept.

Old Age Looks

Our face changes constantly over the course of our lives - how can this effect be created in a targeted manner? This is exactly what you will deal with in the Old Age Looks course.

First, you will look at the natural ageing process and analyze typical features such as fine and deep wrinkles, loss of volume, a change in skin structure, pigmentation spots and sunken areas. You will learn where ageing becomes visible and how these changes can be reproduced with make-up - whether subtly or clearly - and how to work with bald caps: you will practise applying, applying and blending them cleanly so that the transition looks natural and the head shape appears realistic.

Building on this, you will learn to differentiate between a realistic old-age look for photo & film and a theatrical, highly visible look for stage and distance. You will learn how strong lines need to be set, how shadows change the look of the face and how color changes the effect.

In practice, you will implement the techniques step by step and develop a feel for nuances: When does a wrinkle look believable? Where does a shadow look convincing? How does a face age without appearing "mask-like"? The aim is to gain confidence in the use of ageing techniques - precise, controlled and appropriate to the area of application.

    • Variations from subtle to heavily aged
    • Feedback & fine-tuning on models
SFX - scars, wounds etc.

It's the small details that decide whether an effect looks believable. In this subject, you will learn how to create SFX make-up realistically and precisely.

First, you will learn about materials science and the properties of latex, wax, silicone, gel textures, fake blood and various color palettes such as alcohol-activated paints and oil paints. They learn how these materials behave, how they are constructed and modeled and how they can be used safely . The focus is particularly on texture work so that scars, skin changes and wounds look organic and not "artificial".

You will then deal with different types of wounds : cuts and stab wounds, abrasions and burns, bullet and bullet wounds, fresh and healed scars as well as bruising and swelling. They train color build-up, depth, shadow control and the effect of gloss and mattness. Bald caps are also used. You will learn how to adjust them, glue them and blend edges cleanly - as a building block within the many SFX techniques.

In practice, you will practise the various effects step by step and combine materials until realistic results are achieved. You will sharpen your eye for what injured or altered skin actually looks like and learn how to recreate this professionally. The aim is to learn a safe and controlled approach to SFX techniques that look authentic, believable and cinematic on the skin.

Bridal make-up is considered the supreme discipline because it requires technique, feeling and perfection. On this special day, everything has to be just right: the look, the durability and, above all, the bride's confidence in your work.

In this course, you will learn how to create make-up that lasts a long time and can withstand emotional moments. You will work with fixing techniques as well as suitable textures and products that can withstand tears, hugs, weather and many hours without any problems. At the same time, you make sure that the look is fresh, natural and timeless, because wedding photos last a lifetime. You will work on bridal looks that are true to type: from classic and elegant to modern and clean to light boho variations. Not only the face, but also the personality, style, skin type and overall impression of the wedding day play a role. An important focus is on dealing sensitively with the bride. You will learn to listen to her, pick up on her insecurities, work out her wishes and create a calm, professional setting.

In practice, you will create trial looks and coordinate the make-up with the dress, accessories and hairstyling. The aim is to create bridal makeup with technical confidence, but also with heart, so that brides feel seen, beautiful and in good hands.

  • BASICS & PREPARATION

    • Skin analysis and optimal skin preparation for long-lasting bridal looks
    • Products for maximum durability & tear resistance
    • Color and style matching to skin type, personality and wedding concept

    TYPE-APPROPRIATE BRIDAL STYLING

    • Creation of trial looks incl. look analysis and optimization
    • Achieving a harmonious overall effect: Harmoniously combining make-up, outfit and styling
Eyeliner looks

Eyeliner can open, emphasize, elongate or add depth to the eye - provided it is applied correctly. The eyeliner looks subject is all about lines, expression and precision.

First, you will get to know different techniques: the classic, fine liner for everyday and business use, the curved wing for more expression and the modern graphic liner for creative looks. The different eye shapes play a central role here. You will analyze how eye shape, eyelid crease and lash line affect the effect of an eyeliner and how to adjust the line so that it visually supports the eye.

You will also learn about product science: gel, liquid and pencil liners have different properties and areas of application. You will learn when to use which liner, how to apply it in a controlled manner and how to make corrections cleanly and professionally. In the practical part, you will practise the basic techniques step by step and then apply them creatively. You will experiment with shape, length, thickness and effect to train your sense of line and balance.

  • BASICS & ANALYSIS

    • Influence of different eyeliner shapes on expression and eye shape
    • Adaptation to different eyelid and eye shapes (droopy eyelid, round, almond-shaped, etc.)
    • Visual corrections through lines and angles

    EYELINER TECHNIQUES IN DETAIL

    • Individual practice of the techniques
    • Combination of different styles
    • Creative implementation
Photo/film make-up

With photo and film make-up, the decisive factor is how the make-up looks under the camera, light and resolution. What looks natural in the mirror may appear too pale, too shiny or too low-contrast in photos. In this subject, you will learn how to design makeup so that it looks professional and clear both live and in pictures.

First, you will look at the differences to everyday or event makeup. You will learn how studio lighting, flash and HD cameras show the skin and which techniques are necessary to keep contours visible, control shine and reproduce colors correctly. Another focus is on business portraits and professional shoots, where the emphasis is on naturalness and seriousness. Men's make-up is also covered. The aim here is to even out irregularities without looking "made up" and to create a well-groomed, authentic complexion .

In practice, you will work under realistic conditions. You will apply make-up under time pressure, prioritize the most important steps and work quickly and cleanly. You will practise how to adjust looks efficiently, react to changes in light and analyze results directly on the monitor.

  • BASICS & DIFFERENCES TO LIVE MAKEUP

    • Requirements for photo, film & business shoots
    • Effect of light, camera, HD resolution
    • Analysis of typical shooting situations (indoor/outdoor, flash/no flash)

PRODUCTS & TECHNIQUES FOR CAMERA & FLASH

    • Camera-ready textures: foundations, powders, concealers
    • Matting, shimmer, color reproduction under studio light
    • Specifics of men's makeup (beard shadow, gloss control, natural correction)

PRACTICE & WORKFLOW UNDER TIME PRESSURE

    • Efficient step-by-step processes for shoots
    • Reduction to the most important work steps
    • Analysis of the results: Photo check, adjustments for different light sources
Corrective make-up

Corrective make-up is the targeted covering and balancing of skin irregularities. You will learn to analyze different skin types and select the appropriate products and techniques for blemishes, scars, redness or pigmentation disorders. You will apply color theory directly. Which shades neutralize redness? Which tones make pale skin glow? How can you achieve an even, natural complexion without a mask effect?

Another focus is on concealing and emphasizing individual areas of the face. You will learn how to visually optimize the nose, lips, cheeks and eyes without looking unnatural. Best ager make-up for the 60+ generation is also covered. The focus here is on suitable textures, gentle transitions and techniques that support mature skin instead of emphasizing it.

Communication with customers is also important. How do I speak sensitively and positively about skin issues without reinforcing insecurities? How do I convey suggestions in a professional and respectful manner? In the practical part, you will create before-and-after looks in which you apply the techniques you have learned in a targeted manner. You will train to incorporate corrections precisely, naturally and harmoniously.

  • BASICS & SKIN PREPARATION

    • Recognizing different skin types and their needs
    • Assessing textures, moisture balance and skin condition
    • Hygienic preparation for corrective work

    CORRECTION & COVERAGE

    • Neutralization of redness, blue/purple spots, hyperpigmentation
    • Covering blemishes, scars and localized imperfections

    • Appreciative and positive language for sensitive topics
    • Dealing professionally with skin problems and insecurities
    • Realistic expectation management

    APPLICATION

    • Creating before and after looks
    • Working on different models
    • Combining several correction techniques for a harmonious overall look
Smokey Eye, Halo Eye & Cut Crease

Dramatic eye looks thrive on technique, precision and a good feel for shapes. In this subject, you will focus on three expressive eye make-up variations: smokey eye, halo eye and cut crease.

First, you will learn to recognize and analyse different eye shapes. You will learn what influence the eyelid crease, eyebrow arch, lash line and eye distance have on the effect of a look. It's not just about "recreating" a style, but also about understanding which look supports which eye shape. When does a halo eye open up the gaze? When is a smokey eye flattering and when is it oppressive? How do you create a cut crease so that the eye is clearly defined?

You will then work through the looks step by step. You will learn how to build up colors, blend transitions softly and draw clean lines. The sequence, product consistency and brush technique are important here - small details with a big effect. You will practise all three variations in detail and then apply them creatively. You can experiment with color intensity, textures and shimmer to adapt the looks to different types and occasions.

The aim of this unit is for you to not only be able to apply eye makeup, but also to understand and consciously create it. This will enable you to create looks that emphasize eye shape, enhance expression and reveal personality.

  • BASICS

    • Eye shapes and their special features
    • Influence of eyelid crease, eye distance, brow shape and proportions
    • Correction options through the targeted use of light and shadows

THEORETICAL STRUCTURE OF THE EYE LOOKS

    • Smokey eye: intense gradient, soft edges, depth effect
    • Halo eye: centered points of light, soft transitions, optical rounding
    • Cut crease: clear edges, precise definition, opening of the gaze
    • Choosing the right technique for different eye shapes

    STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS & TECHNIQUES

    • Preparation of the eyelid (primer, colour neutralization, setting)
    • Layering textures (cream, powder, shimmer, matte)
    • Building depth, shape and intensity
    • Finishing details: liner, lashes, lower lash line

    PRACTICE & CREATIVE WORK

    • Practice of the three variants using clear process structures
    • Individual adaptation to models with different eye shapes
    • Creative interpretation of the looks with colors, effects and variations
Day makeup

Day make-up should look light, fresh and accompany you in everyday life without appearing artificial. First, you will learn the basics: you will learn to recognize different skin types, prepare the skin correctly and measure the face so that proportions and highlights can be deliberately set. A good base is crucial to how natural and harmonious the result looks.

Building on this, you will create natural make-up looks for everyday life and work. You will learn how to emphasize the complexion, eyes and lips so that the face looks lively without appearing overly made up. The topic of eyeglass make-up is also covered. How do I make up the eyes so that they stand out clearly behind the spectacle frame? Which color and shading techniques support the facial features?

In the practical part , you will work directly with a model. You will create two complete looks with variations to gain confidence in the application. You will try out various basic techniques, test products and practise using brushes and textures. The aim of this unit is for you not only to know the basics, but also to be able to apply them: an even complexion, softly accentuated eyes and a natural overall look that emphasizes your individual beauty. Here you will lay the foundation for all further make-up techniques.

  • BASICS OF FACIAL ANALYSIS

    • Overview of facial symmetries
    • Division of the 3 facial zones
    • Ideal image of the oval face and its relevance
    • Proportions and harmonies in the face

    FACE SHAPES & THEIR CHARACTERISTICS

    • Round, oval, angular, heart-shaped, elongated
    • Typical characteristics and possible visual effects
    • Analysis of forehead, cheek and chin areas
    • Face charts & measurement exercises

ANALYSIS OF INDIVIDUAL PARTS OF THE FACE

    • Eyes: Eye distance, eyelid shapes
    • Eyebrows: Measurement, shape determination, balance in the face
    • Nose: length, width, upward and downward inclination
    • Lips: Shape and volume
    • Cheekbones: position & effect

CORRECTIONS & TECHNIQUES FOR THE RESPECTIVE SHAPES

    • Contouring strategies for shape adjustment
    • Highlighting for emphasis and harmonization

  • ANATOMICAL STRUCTURE OF THE SKIN

    • Layers of the skin (epidermis, dermis, subcutis)
    • Functions of the skin
    • Skin appendages (hair, nails, sebaceous and sweat glands)

    • Recognizing and reacting correctly to intolerances
    • Safety aspects for make-up artists
    • Selection of suitable care and make-up products
Hygiene & workplace organization

In make-up artistry, cleanliness is not a minor matter, but an essential part of professionalism. In the subject of hygiene and workplace organization, you will learn how to create a hygienic, safe and trustworthy work area. First, you will deal with the basic hygiene stages. Cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. You will learn which of these measures are necessary in everyday make-up work and when they should be used. This includes how to clean and disinfect brushes, sponges, palettes and tools correctly to prevent skin irritations and infections.

Another focus is on correct hand washing and personal hygiene routines. You will learn how to keep contact surfaces clean, remove products hygienically and prevent the transmission of germs. This also includes careful handling of make-up, creams and liquid products to ensure their quality and safety.

The overall impression of the workplace is just as important: a well-organized table, clear processes and a quiet, clean work area convey professionalism and confidence. You will learn how to arrange your materials clearly, prepare consumables and arrange your set so that you can work efficiently and tidily. This subject will give you the skills to apply make-up not only beautifully, but also responsibly and hygienically - a prerequisite for quality, safety and a professional appearance.

Customer-oriented work in the beauty industry

The beauty industry is not just about applying make-up, but also about meeting people. In customer-oriented work, you will learn how to communicate professionally, respectfully and clearly with customers. You will learn how to recognize wishes, correctly assess expectations and find out what the other person really needs by asking specific questions. Language is a key aspect of this: technical terms are helpful in the classroom, but can quickly become confusing when talking to customers. You will therefore learn to explain content in a way that is easy to understand without losing your expertise.

One sensitive topic is how to deal with skin blemishes, scars or signs of ageing. Here it is important to remain respectful and empathetic. Instead of emphasizing problems, the focus is on demonstrating ways to accentuate existing beauty. You will practise how to give honest advice without offending and how to give customers a positive feeling .

You will also be given tools for dealing with uncertainty, dissatisfaction or difficult conversational situations : How do I stay calm? How do I formulate feedback in an appreciative way? How do I professionally steer a conversation back to a common solution? This subject strengthens your communication skills and makes you confident in direct contact. You will not only appear as a make-up artist, but also as a person of trust who sees people, takes them seriously and accompanies them professionally.

Material science

In materials science, you will learn about the most important tools of the trade . Before you can create make-up, you need to know which materials to work with and how to use them correctly, and you will learn about different brushes and tools, including foundation and eyeshadow brushes as well as spatulas, eyelash curlers and sponges.

You will practise how to clean brushes, store products and prepare your work set so that you can work efficiently, cleanly and professionally, and the aim of this unit is for you to not only know your tools, but to master them. This means that your make-up is not left to chance, but is created with precision, feeling and technical confidence.

Evening & Glam Makeup

Evening or glam make-up can stand out and show presence. In this course, you will learn how to create looks that are suitable for special occasions such as parties, events, dinners or elegant evenings. Bridal Makeup

Self-employment

Many graduates decide to become self-employed after completing their training. For example, they can

  • open their own make-up studio
  • offer mobile make-up services
  • Create online consultations or tutorials
  • run workshops and training courses

Important for Austria:

For self-employment in the field of make-up and in particular eyelash design, the regulated trade "Cosmetics (beauty care), limited to decorative cosmetics" or "Cosmetics (limited to eyelash design)" is required. As a rule, a qualifying examination or equivalent proof of qualification is required for this.

We support you with:

  • Information on the necessary steps
  • Information on the qualifying examination
  • Contacts to regional contacts

Until you are fully licensed, you can apply the skills you have learned in a studio or at events and gain valuable professional experience.

Earning potential

Earning opportunities in the beauty industry are varied and depend on factors such as professional experience, specialization, order situation and area of work. Both salaried and self-employed positions offer attractive prospects - especially for creative, committed and service-oriented personalities.

Further training opportunities

After your training, you can specialize further, e.g. in

  • Permanent make-up and microblading
  • Eyelash extensions and lash styling
  • Hairstyling and hairdressing techniques
  • Beauty and wellness management

Your added value with the combined training

Broader range of services

You offer your customers a comprehensive portfolio - from day and evening make-up to elaborate event looks.

Greater competitiveness

The dual qualification gives you a clear advantage over competitors with only one specialization.

More flexibility in your day-to-day work

You can work in different areas and are not restricted to a single field of work.

Attractive career prospects

With your comprehensive specialist knowledge and professional appearance, you increase your chances of exciting projects and long-term success in the beauty industry.

Great training and super nice people. You can tell how much emphasis is placed on conveying the necessary knowledge to the course participants in an understandable way. I was even kindly allowed to take a course completely free of charge after there were somewhat problematic and disruptive participants in my group. I will 100% take more courses with you in the future because learning is extremely fun, especially thanks to the friendly staff!

The best thing that could have happened to me is this academy. Access to participants is excellent. All employees are very competent, very professional and very friendly. A person can learn so much that it is indescribably good. I would recommend it to everyone. When I arrived in Austria I was looking for something like this and luckily I found this academy and signed up for the course without hesitation. Everything we get in return is worth 100 times more than what we pay. Indescribable experience, indescribable people, once again and 1000 times I say: Thank you for everything, thank you for this indescribable experience. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

I was able to learn a lot of new things as part of my training at the Flexyfit Academy and was able to take on a new, demanding challenge with my chosen course. The structure of the training courses is very understandable and clear, so that you can master the distance learning course on your own without any problems. If there were any questions, ambiguities or isolated problems, the Academy team was always quick to help and we could always find a common solution. Here and there I would have liked a little more practical relevance. Nevertheless, I always felt very comfortable, had great speakers and with my degree as a qualified medical sports coach, many new doors are now open to me :)
